Construction & Project Planning

Construction planning is a fundamental part of what D.T. Mistick & Co. offers to our clients. We encourage a team approach at the conception of each project. Building a construction team of architects, engineers, contractor, and other design professionals at the beginning of the project ensures that all factors are taken into consideration.

Our team is ready to provide, for the client, full leadership and guidance through the construction process. At the beginning stages, we can provide ongoing cost estimating based on preliminary drawings. We will price the scope of work as the drawings evolve to keep the project within the client’s budget.

Our team is able to provide detailed estimates and construction phasing schedules so that costs can be analyzed and informed decisions can be made. Analysis of this material will provide the client with a framework for establishing a hierarchy of needs and wants with associated costs.

CRG will work with the project team to value engineer the construction process by suggesting the best products, efficient building techniques, cost saving designs, and proper phasing to streamline and control the progression of the job.

CRG takes pride in the relationships we have established with other design and building professionals. If you have a project in mind but do not know where to begin, call on D.T. Mistick & Co. to establish a team tailored for you specific project.

Case Study

The Armstrong County Courthouse was built between 1870 and 1873 and was considered at that time one of the strongest, securest, and most substantial buildings in the United States. Although still structurally sound, the cupola's exterior façade has over time begun to deteriorate. D.T. Mistick partnered with Ross Schonder Sterzinger Cupcheck Architects to develop a scope of work and budget for bid documents and specifications to be used in the restoration of the cupola.

CASE STUDY: Consulting

Armstrong County Courthouse

The Armstrong County Courthouse was built between 1870 and 1873 and was considered at that time one of the strongest, securest, and most substantial buildings in the United States. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the courthouse is an example of local Greek Revival architecture. Its hillside location and towering appearance overlooking Kittanning makes the structure a focal point of architectural attention.

Sitting on top of the solid castle-like structure and metal seamed roof is an impressive octagonal cupola. The cupola, with a dominical roof and repeating pediment and Corinthian columns, dominates the roof line.

Although still structurally sound, the cupola's exterior façade has over time begun to deteriorate. D.T. Mistick partnered with Ross Schonder Sterzinger Cupcheck Architects to develop a scope of work and budget for bid documents and specifications to be used in the restoration of the cupola.

Some pressing items included lead-based paint abatement, wood consolidation and replacement, roofing and flashing adjustments, and coating considerations. Using the Secretary of the Interior's Guidelines as a foundation for restoration specifications, the once impressive courthouse cupola will continue to be an architectural focal point in Armstrong County.
